Car Service in Coorparoo
If somebody has told you that servicing your car anywhere other than the dealership will void the warranty, that is not how it works in Australia. A qualified independent workshop can carry out logbook servicing without affecting a new car warranty. We do exactly that at 2 Baldock St, Moorooka, an easy run from Coorparoo, from $330.
What the law actually requires
Two conditions, and they are both reasonable.
The manufacturer's schedule has to be followed. That means the items specified for your model at your kilometre reading, not a generic oil change with a stamp on the end of it.
The correct parts have to be used. Correct specification oil, correct filters, correct fluids. Not a substitute chosen because it was cheaper.
Meet both and the warranty is untouched. That is the whole test. There is no requirement anywhere that the work happens at the place that sold you the car, and a dealership cannot create one by telling you otherwise.
What that means at pickup
You get the logbook stamped, dated and filled in, and you get an invoice listing what was done and what went in. Keep both.
If a warranty claim ever comes up, that paperwork is what demonstrates the schedule was followed. It is worth keeping properly rather than in the glovebox with the parking receipts, because a complete service history also does more for resale value than almost anything else you can control.
Newer cars and older streets
Coorparoo has had a lot of new apartment development in recent years alongside its established housing, and that mix shows up in the cars. Plenty of near-new vehicles still inside their warranty period, parked in basements, doing short stop-start runs on Old Cleveland Road and Logan Road.
Stop-start arterial driving is the pattern that wears brakes fastest, because pads wear on applications rather than on kilometres. A Coorparoo car doing 12,000km a year on those roads can be harder on its front brakes than a car doing twice that on open highway. Brake condition goes on your written report with an actual measurement, so you find out before it becomes a noise.
The other half of the local car population is the opposite. Older vehicles in the established streets running toward Camp Hill and Carina, well past warranty, where the sensible choice is a general service focused on the condition of the car rather than a factory checklist.
What is in the service
A full safety check on the hoist covering brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, belts, hoses and leaks. Fresh engine oil and a new filter in the correct grade. A fuel system clean. Coolant, brake fluid, power steering and washer fluid checked and topped up. Then a written report in plain English.
From $330 for a full service, from $149 for oil and filter only. All makes and models, including European, diesel, 4WD, fleet, commercial, hybrid and electric. Six technicians and the diagnostic equipment to go with them.
The report you take home
Whichever service you book, the written report is the same. It records condition rather than a list of tasks ticked off.
Most people have collected a car at some point and been told it is all good, with no idea what was actually looked at, and then had something fail a few weeks later that was clearly on its way out. A report that says your front pads are at 4mm and roughly how long that gives you is a different thing entirely. It lets you plan the spend rather than react to it.
If a hose is starting to go soft, it goes on the report as something to watch rather than something to replace today. You can take the whole thing to another workshop for a second opinion, and we would rather you could, because a report nobody is able to check is not worth much.

Common questions
FAQ — Car Service in Coorparoo
Will servicing outside the dealership void my new car warranty?
No. Australian consumer law allows any qualified workshop to carry out logbook servicing, provided the schedule is followed and the correct parts are used.
Do you stamp the logbook?
Yes, stamped, dated and filled in, with an invoice listing what was done.
What if the dealership tells me otherwise?
They are wrong on the law. Keep your stamped book and your invoices and you have what any warranty claim would require.
Does it matter which oil you use?
Yes, and that is one of the two conditions. We use the grade your engine is specified to run, including manufacturer-approved grades for European engines.
Why do my brakes wear so fast in Coorparoo?
Brakes wear on applications, not kilometres. Stop-start driving on Old Cleveland Road and Logan Road applies them constantly.
What does a service cost?
From $330 for a full service, from $149 for oil and filter only.
Are you in Coorparoo?
No. Our only address is 2 Baldock St, Moorooka.
Can I get a safety certificate at the same time?
Yes, we can do both in one visit at our approved inspection station.
