Brakes, tyres and suspension
Brake, Tyre and Suspension Services in Brisbane
Brakes, tyres, steering and suspension are the four systems that decide whether your car stops where you want it to and goes where you point it. We repair all of them at our Moorooka workshop, from a squealing brake pad to a worn rack. Call 0402 723 464 or book online.

Why they are connected
They wear each other out
They are separate systems on paper. In practice they wear each other out. An alignment that is out will chew the inside edge off a front tyre in a few thousand kilometres. A collapsed control arm bush throws the alignment out in the first place. Worn shock absorbers let the tyre skip across the road, which cups the tread and makes a droning noise people usually blame on a wheel bearing.
So when a car comes in for one of these jobs, the rest gets a look at the same time. It costs you nothing extra and it stops the obvious mistakes.
Safety certificates
These are the items that fail safety certificates
Every year the same list turns up on safety certificate inspections. Tyres worn on one edge because the alignment was never corrected. Brake pads worn past the indicator. Play in a ball joint or tie rod end. A shock absorber weeping oil down the body.
If you are selling a car or transferring registration, getting these looked at before the inspection is cheaper and less stressful than dealing with a fail list afterwards. We can inspect and repair in the same visit.
About safety certificatesCommon questions
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my brakes need doing?
Squealing means the wear indicator is touching. Grinding means the pad material is gone and the backing plate is on the rotor. A pedal that sinks or feels spongy is a fluid or air problem and needs looking at straight away.
What is the legal tyre tread depth in Queensland?
1.5mm across the tread face. Wet weather grip drops off well before you get there, so most people should be replacing tyres before that point rather than at it.
Is wheel alignment the same as wheel balancing?
No. Alignment sets the angles the wheels sit at and fixes pulling and uneven tyre wear. Balancing corrects weight distribution and fixes vibration at highway speed.
My car vibrates at 90km/h. What is it?
Usually wheel balance. If the vibration only appears when you brake, that is a rotor problem instead.
Do you work on European cars?
Yes. All makes and models, including European, diesel, four wheel drive, fleet, commercial, hybrid and electric vehicles.
Can I drive on a squealing brake?
For a short time, yes. The wear indicator gives you some warning. Grinding means the pad is gone — every stop from that point is damaging the rotor.
Do you check suspension when you replace brakes?
Yes. When the car is on the hoist for brakes, suspension and steering components get a look at the same time.
