Smash repairs
Smash and accident repairs in Brisbane
If you have just had an accident, the order is: check everyone is okay, get out of traffic if safe, swap details, photograph everything, then call your insurer. After that, bring the car to us. Under most Australian policies the choice of repairer is yours. We work with all major Australian insurers and handle the assessment and paperwork from our Moorooka workshop.

What to do after an accident
- Check for injuries. Call 000 if anyone is hurt. That comes before everything else.
- Get to safety. If the cars are driveable and it is safe, move them off the road. Hazard lights on.
- Swap details. Name, address, phone, registration, insurer. You are legally required to exchange these in Queensland.
- Photograph everything. Both cars, all damage, the position of the vehicles, the road, the street signs, the conditions.
- Get witness details if anyone stopped.
- Report it to police if anyone is injured, if a vehicle has to be towed, or if the other driver refuses to give details.
- Call your insurer and open the claim.
- Call us on 0402 723 464. We will tell you what happens next and whether the car is safe to drive.
Your rights
You can choose your own repairer
This is the part most people do not know. When you open a claim, many insurers will steer you toward a repairer on their own network. Under most Australian comprehensive policies you are entitled to nominate your own repairer instead.
It will be written into your product disclosure statement, usually under choice of repairer. Some policies restrict it, and it is worth reading yours. If you would like a hand working out what your policy says, bring it in.
We work with all major Australian insurers, so nominating us is not the complication it is sometimes made out to be.

One building
Mechanical and smash in the same building
Impact damage does not stay cosmetic. A front-end hit can push the alignment out, crack a radiator support, or damage steering and suspension components that are not visible in a photograph.
Because the mechanical side of our workshop is in the same building, all of that gets checked and corrected as part of the repair rather than turning into a separate problem you discover three weeks later on the motorway.
Honest expectations
How long it takes
Honestly, it depends, and anyone giving you a firm answer before looking at the car is guessing. A bumper repair can be a few days. Structural work with parts on back order can run into weeks.
The biggest variable is almost always parts availability, followed by how quickly the insurer's assessor signs off. We will give you a realistic timeframe once we have assessed the damage, and we will tell you if it changes rather than leaving you to chase us.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I choose my own smash repairer in Queensland?
Under most Australian comprehensive policies, yes. Your insurer can recommend a repairer, but the choice is generally yours. Check the choice of repairer section of your product disclosure statement.
Do you work with my insurer?
We work with all major Australian insurers.
Do I have to pay an excess?
Usually yes, and it is set by your policy rather than by us. If you were not at fault and the other driver is identified, your insurer may recover it.
Will you give me a quote for the insurer?
Yes. We assess the damage and provide a written quote you can submit with your claim.
How long will my car be off the road?
Days for light damage, longer for structural work or where parts are on back order. You get a realistic estimate after the assessment, not before.
What if the damage is worse than it looks?
That happens often. We assess for hidden damage as part of the quote, and if more is found once the car is stripped, it goes back to the assessor as a supplementary claim.
Can you match my paint?
Yes, colour matching is part of every repair.
Is my car safe to drive in the meantime?
Call us and describe the damage. If there is any doubt about steering, brakes, lights or fluid leaks, do not drive it.
Can you fix the mechanical damage too?
Yes. Mechanical and smash are both handled here, which matters more than people expect after a front-end impact.
Do you do windscreen chips?
Yes, and a chip caught early is far cheaper than a new screen. It can also be the difference between passing and failing a safety certificate.
