Car Servicing and Repairs in Tarragindi

One hill sits between Tarragindi and 2 Baldock St, Moorooka, and that is the whole trip. Brakes, clutches, servicing, safety certificates and smash repair are all handled in the one workshop, and for a lot of jobs we can come to you instead. Call 0402 723 464 or book online.

Hills change what wears out

Tarragindi is hilly.
Hills are hard on a car.

Going down, brakes do the work that gravity is doing to you. On a steady descent the pads and rotors shed heat continuously. Fluid that has absorbed moisture over a few years boils sooner than fresh fluid, and a soft pedal at the bottom of a hill is a bad time to discover it.

Going up, a manual car's clutch takes it. Hill starts, holding on a slope, reversing up a steep driveway. Clutches here genuinely have a harder life than clutches doing flat suburban running. Automatics feel it through the transmission fluid instead.

Brakes and brake fluid

Pads, rotors and fluid condition, checked with hill driving in mind. Fluid condition is the one most people miss, and boiling point matters on a Tarragindi descent.

Clutch and transmission

Slipping, shuddering on a hill start, or a pedal that has gone high. We diagnose before quoting because the clutch, hydraulics and flywheel are different jobs.

Tyres and alignment

Hill roads with camber and tight corners load the outside shoulders of the front tyres harder. A kerb strike moves alignment out. Fixing alignment before buying tyres saves buying them twice.

Mobile service across the hill

If the hill is exactly the reason you do not want to drive the car, we can come to you — provided there is safe flat ground to work on.

Common questions

FAQ — Tarragindi

How do I get to the workshop from Tarragindi?

Straight down off the hill to 2 Baldock St, Moorooka, or across on Logan Road from the Stones Corner side. No motorway.

Do Tarragindi hills really wear brakes faster?

Sustained downhill braking puts more heat into pads, rotors and fluid than flat driving does. It is one of the first things we check on cars from up that way.

My clutch is slipping on hill starts. Is that the clutch or something else?

It can be the clutch, the hydraulics or the flywheel. We diagnose it before quoting, because replacing the wrong part is an expensive way to find out.

Will the mobile service work on my steep driveway?

Sometimes. We need safe flat ground to work on. Describe the driveway when you book and we will tell you honestly whether the car should come to us instead.

How much is a service?

From $149 for oil and filter, from $330 for a full service. Anything else is quoted before we start.

Do you do safety certificates?

Yes, and we can repair most failure items on the spot.

Can I drop the car before work?

Yes, from 8am on weekdays, or use the after-hours key drop the night before.

Do you work on European cars?

Yes, and diesel, 4WD, fleet, commercial, hybrid and electric vehicles.

Do you handle insurance smash repairs?

Yes, with all major Australian insurers, and we deal with the assessor.
