Car Service in Woolloongabba

If the reason your car has not been serviced is that you cannot get it to a workshop between 8am and 5pm on a weekday, there are three ways around that and none of them cost you a day of leave. Drop the keys the night before, book a Saturday, or leave the car in the morning and collect it after work. Our workshop is at 2 Baldock St, Moorooka, straight down Ipswich Road from Woolloongabba, and a full service starts at $330.

The after-hours key drop

There is a key drop at the workshop. Put the keys in it the evening before, park the car, and it goes on a hoist first thing rather than joining a queue at nine.

That is the option most city workers end up using, because it converts the whole thing into one detour on the way home rather than a morning off. You get a call during the day with anything we find, and the car is ready to collect that afternoon or evening depending on the job.

Tell us when you book if there is a time you absolutely need it back, and we will be straight about whether that is realistic rather than optimistic.

Saturdays

We are open Saturday 8am to 3pm, closed Sunday. Saturday books out faster than weekdays for obvious reasons, so it is worth calling ahead rather than the week of.

What is in the service

A full safety check on the hoist covering brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, belts, hoses and leaks. Fresh engine oil and a new oil filter in the grade your engine is specified to run. A fuel system clean. Coolant, brake fluid, power steering and washer fluid checked and topped up. Then a written report telling you what needs doing now, what needs doing soon and what is simply worth watching.

Most cars take a few hours. Oil and filter alone starts at $149. If we find something, you get a call with the problem, the fix and the price, and nothing goes ahead until you agree.

The Woolloongabba parking problem

This is an apartment suburb built around the Gabba, and a lot of cars here live in basement car parks and come out at weekends. That produces a specific set of findings.

Brake rotors surface rust when a car sits on damp concrete between uses, and the first few stops after a week parked are noticeably rough until the rust wears off. Batteries never get a long enough run to fully recharge, then fail on the first cold morning. Wiper rubber hardens. Tyres perish on the sidewall while the tread stays deep.

The odometer on those cars tells you almost nothing useful. Service on the calendar rather than the kilometres, because the twelve month mark is what applies.

The other Woolloongabba car

The opposite pattern is just as common here. Ipswich Road, Logan Road and the motorway network all converge at this end of the suburb, so plenty of local cars do serious kilometres at speed, and they wear tyres, brakes and suspension rather than oil.

Whichever of the two you have got, the report tells you which, because it records condition rather than assumptions.

Logbook servicing while you are still under warranty

Plenty of the newer cars in the apartment buildings around here are inside their new car warranty period, and plenty of those owners have been told the book has to be stamped where the car was bought.

It does not. Australian consumer law allows a qualified independent workshop to carry out logbook servicing without affecting a new car warranty, as long as the manufacturer's schedule is followed and the correct parts are used. We stamp the book, fill it in and give you an invoice listing what went in, which is what any warranty claim would ever ask for. Keep both together rather than in the glovebox, because a complete service history also does more for resale than almost anything else you control.

Getting the car to us

Straight down Ipswich Road. Parking is on site at Baldock St, so you are not circling. All major cards and cash, and you get the figure before we start.

Full servicing detail sits on the main car servicing page. Everything else we do for Woolloongabba drivers is on the Woolloongabba suburb page.

Common questions

Can I drop my car off before you open?

Yes. There is an after-hours key drop, so you can leave the car and keys the night before and it goes on a hoist first thing.

Can I collect after 5pm?

Tell us when you book and we will sort out an arrangement that works. Most people collect on the way home.

Do you open Saturdays?

Yes, 8am to 3pm, closed Sunday. Saturdays fill up, so book ahead.

How long will you have my car?

A few hours for most services. Say when you book if you need it back at a set time.

What does it cost?

From $330 for a full service and from $149 for oil and filter. Exact figure at booking.
