Mobile Mechanic in Salisbury
The part most mobile mechanic pages leave out is the list of jobs that cannot be done at your address at all. Knowing that list before you book is what stops you paying for a visit that achieves nothing. Salisbury sits close to our Moorooka workshop, so the hoist is never far away.
Jobs that need a workshop, full stop
Wheel alignment. An alignment rack has to be bolted to a level floor and calibrated. Nobody can do a genuine alignment in a driveway, and any operator offering one is measuring something other than what you think.
Rotor machining. The lathe is a fixed machine. Rotors either come off and come to us or they get replaced.
Transmission work. Automatic and manual gearbox repairs need the car in the air, often for a day or more, with the box supported on a jack designed for it.
Internal engine work. Timing chains, head gaskets and anything inside the engine needs the car lifted, stripped and left safely for extended periods.
Clutch replacement and heavy suspension work. Both need a hoist, and both leave the car immobile partway through.
And the ones that depend on your driveway
Even the jobs that do travel need somewhere workable. Firm level ground, room to move around the car and space to lay tools out.
Grass and gravel are a problem because a jack stand needs something solid to sit on. A slope is a problem for the same reason. A tandem car space with a wall on one side means we cannot get to the side we need.
What does travel well
Servicing, including logbook servicing with the book stamped. Brake pads and rotors done one corner at a time and torqued to spec. Battery, alternator and starter testing. Diagnostics on warning lights and intermittent faults. Pre-purchase and rideshare inspections.
The parent mobile mechanic page covers each of these properly, including how a service is done with the car on stands rather than in the air.
Salisbury and the workshop up Beaudesert Road
Salisbury runs into the industrial pocket near Rocklea and Archerfield Airport, and there are a lot of work vehicles, trade utes and light commercials based around here. Those vehicles cost money when they are off the road, which makes the choice between mobile and workshop a practical one rather than a preference.
Our workshop is 2 Baldock St, Moorooka, an easy run up Beaudesert Road. On-site parking, an after-hours key drop and Saturday hours until 3pm. For a fleet, booking vehicles in rather than waiting for failures is almost always cheaper.
Whether the van itself runs to Salisbury is worth a phone call, because our confirmed mobile areas are Brisbane Northside and Southside, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and the Redlands. Everything else we do locally is on the Salisbury page.
How to decide before you book
Ring and describe the symptom rather than naming the repair. Plenty of people book a mobile brake job when the actual fault is a wheel bearing, and plenty book a workshop day for something that would have taken an hour at the kerb.
Two questions usually settle it. Can the car be driven safely, and does the likely repair need the car in the air for a long stretch. If the answer to the first is no, mobile is worth considering. If the answer to the second is yes, the workshop wins regardless.
We will give you that answer on the phone before taking a booking, including when it means telling you a call-out is not worth paying for.
Why we tell you this upfront
A mobile-only operator has one move when a job turns out to be bigger than the booking. They pack up, and you start again with someone else.
We have hoists, six technicians and eight years at one address. If something we find at your place needs the workshop, we book it in and finish it with the same people and the same report.
Oil and filter from $149, full service from $330, repairs quoted before they happen.
Common questions
FAQ — Mobile mechanic in Salisbury
Can you do a wheel alignment at my house in Salisbury?
No, and nor can anyone else. Alignment needs a calibrated rack on a level floor.
Why can rotors not be machined at my address?
The lathe is a fixed workshop machine. We either take the rotors off and machine them at Baldock St or replace them.
Can you replace a clutch mobile?
No. That is a hoist job and the car is immobile for most of it.
My driveway is gravel. Is that a problem?
Yes, for anything that needs jacking. Jack stands need firm level ground, and gravel does not give that.
Do you cover Salisbury with the van?
Our confirmed areas are Brisbane Northside and Southside, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and the Redlands. Ring and ask.
Can you look after our work utes?
Yes. Fleet, commercial, diesel and 4WD are normal work, and we can schedule several vehicles rather than one at a time.
How far is the workshop from Salisbury?
An easy run up Beaudesert Road to 2 Baldock St, Moorooka.
What if I cannot get the car in during the week?
Saturday 8am to 3pm, or use the after-hours key drop the night before.
