Mobile Mechanic in Yeronga
A properly equipped mobile mechanic can do a great deal more at your address than most people expect, and considerably less than some operators advertise. Here is the real list for a Yeronga driveway, along with what has to come to the Moorooka workshop instead.
Servicing at your address
A full service does not need the car in the air for the length of the job. With the car on stands or ramps, oil and filter come out, the new filter goes on, fluids get checked and topped, and the inspection side gets done underneath and under the bonnet.
Logbook servicing works the same way and the book gets stamped. Australian law lets any qualified workshop carry out logbook servicing without affecting a new car warranty, provided the schedule is followed and the correct parts go in.
Oil and filter starts at $149 and a full service starts at $330, the same figures as at the workshop.
Brakes in a driveway
Brake pads and rotors are one of the most common mobile jobs we do. One corner at a time, the car jacked and supported on stands, the caliper carrier cleaned back, slide pins serviced, the wheel torqued to specification and the car road tested before we leave.
What cannot happen at your address is rotor machining, because the lathe is a fixed machine. If your rotors measure well enough to be cut, they either come to Baldock St or get replaced instead.
Batteries and electrical
If a car will not start there is very little point towing it somewhere to find out why. We test the battery under load, check charging output from the alternator and look at the starter circuit at the kerb.
Warning lights and rough running get read with proper diagnostic gear rather than a code reader and a guess. Sometimes that fixes it on the spot and sometimes it books the car in.
Inspections
Pre-purchase inspections are a strong use of a mobile visit, because the car you are considering is sitting at a seller's address and you want it looked at before you commit. Rideshare inspections at your place cost you less driving time than a workshop appointment.
The parent mobile mechanic page covers the full range, and the rest of what we do for the suburb is on the Yeronga page.
The report you get either way
A mobile visit finishes with the same written report a workshop job does. What was checked, what the measurements were, what was done and what is worth watching before the next service.
That is the part that makes a driveway service worth the same as a workshop one. An oil change with no inspection behind it and no written record is not a service, whoever performs it and wherever it happens.
If something needs attention that could not be done on the day, it goes on the report with a price rather than being mentioned in passing and forgotten.
What we need at a Yeronga address
Firm, level ground and room to work around the car. A concrete driveway or a hardstand park is ideal, while grass, gravel and a slope all cause problems for jacking.
You do not need to be home for the whole visit, but somebody has to be reachable to approve anything we find. Nothing gets done without that call.
Coverage, honestly
Our confirmed mobile areas are Brisbane Northside, Brisbane Southside, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and the Redlands. Yeronga sits on the inner south next to Fairfield, Yeerongpilly and Annerley, close to the workshop rather than out on one of those runs.
If you cannot get the car to us, ring 0402 723 464 and ask about your address rather than assuming. Otherwise 2 Baldock St, Moorooka is an easy run, with an after-hours key drop for early starts.
Common questions
FAQ — Mobile mechanic in Yeronga
Can you do a full service in my Yeronga driveway?
Yes, where we can get to you. The car goes on stands or ramps and the inspection is done the same way it would be at the workshop.
Will a mobile logbook service void my new car warranty?
No. Any qualified workshop can do logbook servicing provided the schedule and parts are correct.
Can you replace brake pads at my house?
Yes, one corner at a time with the car properly supported and the wheels torqued to spec. Rotor machining is a workshop job.
My driveway slopes. Does that matter?
Yes. A slope makes jacking unsafe, so tell us when you book and we will work out whether the street or the workshop is better.
Do you cover Yeronga?
Our confirmed areas are Brisbane Northside and Southside, Logan, Ipswich, Moreton Bay and the Redlands. Ring and ask.
Can you check a car I am thinking of buying?
Yes, at the seller's address. That is one of the better reasons to book a mobile visit.
Do I need to be home?
Not the whole time, but you need to be reachable by phone to approve anything we find.
How do I pay?
All major cards or cash at the vehicle when the job is finished. Parts carry their supplier or manufacturer warranty.
