Smash Repairs in Yeronga

Accident damage is not always limited to the panels you can see. Steering, suspension and cooling components take the force of an impact and do not always show visible signs. Yeronga is a short run off Fairfield Road from our Moorooka workshop, and both sides of the repair — panel and mechanical — happen in the same building at 2 Baldock St. Ring 0402 723 464.

The damage the photos do not capture

At the scene of an accident, people photograph the panels. That is the right thing to do, but panel photographs only show the surface. The force of an impact travels through the structure of the car and into whatever is behind the skin — subframe mounts, steering components, suspension arms, radiator supports, cooling hoses.

None of that shows in a photo of a crumpled bumper, and none of it necessarily feels wrong in the first kilometres after an accident. The parts that were bent or pushed out of alignment do not always announce themselves until they do.

Why it matters for the repair

A quote that covers only the visible panels will look lower. It will also be wrong, and when the additional damage is found once the car is stripped, either the cost climbs unexpectedly or the repair is done incomplete.

We assess the damage fully before the quote is submitted to your insurer, which means the mechanical items are documented and authorised at the same time as the panel items. No second quote for the same accident.

Panel and paint work

Panels are assessed for whether the metal can be reshaped or needs replacing. That decision is made on the individual panel: the extent of the damage, where the crease sits, how the panel is constructed and what the likely result of each approach is.

Paint is matched to your car rather than to the code. A vehicle in the Brisbane climate has been weathering since it was new, and the factory colour code is only a starting point. We mix to the actual car and blend where blending is needed.

Road test at completion

The car goes out for a road test before it is handed back, not because we want an extra drive but because some things only show under load and in motion. Alignment errors, steering feel that is slightly off, a vibration at speed — those are checked rather than assumed correct.

When you collect the car, look at the panels in natural daylight rather than in the workshop fluorescent. Panel fit is much easier to read outdoors. Check the gaps around the repaired panels as well as the surfaces.

Access from Yeronga

Yeronga runs off Fairfield Road between Annerley and Dutton Park, backing onto the river. It is a short trip to Moorooka from most parts of the suburb, and the after-hours key drop at Baldock St means you do not have to be there during opening hours if that does not suit.

We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 3pm. Payment is by all major cards or cash. The full claims walkthrough is on our insurance claims page, and the rest of what we handle for Yeronga is on the Yeronga service area page.

Common questions

FAQ — Smash repairs in Yeronga

My car drove fine for a day after the accident. Does that mean it is okay?

Not necessarily. Steering and suspension damage can be subtle enough that the car feels driveable but is not safe, and alignment faults do not always show immediately. Bring it in.

How do I get the car to your workshop from Yeronga?

Fairfield Road connects to the surrounding roads and Moorooka is a short run. 2 Baldock St is our only address. If the car cannot be driven, ring us first.

Will the insurer cover the mechanical repairs as well as the panels?

Usually yes, where the mechanical damage is causally linked to the accident. We document it in the same assessment and quote.

My alignment is still out after the car was repaired elsewhere. Can you fix that?

Yes. Bring it in and we will check whether it is alignment or underlying suspension damage that was missed. Both are fixable here.

I kerbed the wheel badly at speed. Is that a claim?

It can be, depending on your policy type and the extent of the damage. Bring it in for a look before deciding. Strut, hub and tyre damage from a hard kerb hit adds up quickly.

Is it better to repair a damaged panel or replace it?

It depends on the extent of the damage, where the crease sits and how the panel is constructed. We make that call on each panel rather than defaulting to replace or repair.

Is the car safe to drive to your workshop?

If there is any doubt about steering feel, pulling, vibration or fluid loss, do not drive it. Ring and describe what you are seeing and we will advise.

Do you work on hybrid and electric vehicles?

Yes. All makes and models, including hybrid and electric vehicles. High voltage systems are handled with appropriate safety procedures.
