Car Servicing and Repairs in Inala
An error code is a starting point, not an answer. When a check engine light comes on, the stored code tells you which system reported the fault — not which part has failed. We diagnose the cause before quoting anything. Our mobile service covers Inala for many jobs, and our workshop at 2 Baldock St, Moorooka is a straight run via Ipswich Road. Oil and filter from $149, full service from $330.
Diagnostics done properly
A code is a clue,
not a parts list.
A scan tool reading says "P0420 — catalyst efficiency below threshold." That means the oxygen sensor downstream of the catalytic converter is reading lean. It does not mean the catalyst has failed — it might be, but it might also be an exhaust leak, a leaking injector, or a failed upstream sensor affecting the reading.
Replacing the most expensive part is not diagnosis. We test the system, confirm the fault, and quote you for what actually needs doing.
Mobile mechanic, Brisbane SouthsideThe overnight flat battery
A battery that goes dead overnight almost always has a drain — something in the car drawing power when the ignition is off. The fix might be a relay, a module, a wiring fault or a faulty accessory. Replacing the battery does not stop the drain, and the new battery will go flat too.
High-kilometre cars are worth maintaining
A car with 250,000km is often cheaper to keep well-maintained than to replace. Most of the expensive work on a high-km car has already been done — timing chains, water pumps, gearboxes. A regular service schedule and honest reporting on what is wearing keeps it going.
Older cars and parts sourcing
Parts for some older vehicles take longer to source than for common late-model cars. We tell you the lead time before you book so there are no surprises.

Common questions
FAQ — Inala
Do you come out to Inala?
Yes. Our mobile service covers the Brisbane southside and Inala is well within that area. For servicing, batteries, brakes and pre-purchase inspections we can come to you. Anything needing a hoist or the panel shop has to come to Moorooka.
My check engine light is on. What does it mean?
It could be anything from a loose fuel cap to a failing sensor to a misfiring cylinder. The code stored in the computer tells us which system flagged the fault, not which part has failed. We read and interpret the code, then diagnose the actual cause before recommending any work.
A workshop told me I need a new sensor. Can you check first?
Yes. A code pointing at a sensor does not mean the sensor has failed — it means that circuit is out of range. It could be the sensor, a wiring fault, or a problem elsewhere in the system causing the reading. We confirm before we quote.
My car is old and has high kilometres. Is it worth fixing?
Usually yes, if the repair cost is reasonable against the car's remaining value and your ownership plans. We will tell you what we find and what it costs to fix. The decision is yours.
The battery went flat overnight. Do I just need a new battery?
Not necessarily. A flat overnight usually means a drain — something left pulling current when the car is switched off. We test the battery, the alternator and the drain together rather than replacing parts in sequence.
How do I get to you from Inala?
Inala Avenue or Ipswich Road will get you to Moorooka. We are at 2 Baldock St with on-site parking.
Can you do a safety certificate?
Yes, on site. Failures can generally be repaired here without needing a second workshop.
How much is a service?
From $330 for a full service, from $149 for an oil and filter change. The exact figure comes with the booking.
Do you work on older cars?
Yes, all makes and models and all ages, including European, diesel, 4WD, fleet, commercial, hybrid and electric vehicles.
